TRUTH GEM

ONE, NOT DIS-INTEGRATED

(I Thess. 5:23) Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are three part beings.  We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body.  Our body is our flesh.  Our soul is our mind, will, and emotions.  Our spirit man is the very core of our being that lives forever.  It can be thought of as the heart.  Each part has a voice.  The voice of the body sounds like, “Give me pizza.”  The voice of the soul sounds like, “I therefore deduce that…”  The voice of the spirit sounds like, “Give me God’s words of spirit and life.”

When all three parts of your being are focused on the task fully in God’s will for you to do, you are in the realm of overcoming power.  (Ecc 4:12)  Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.  And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

In calculus there is the concept called integration.  If you have your body in the classroom, but your mind is wandering, and your heart is not in it, you are not one, but dis-integrated.  If your body is in the class and your mind is there, but your heart is not in it, then you are not one, but dis-integrated.  If your body was not in class, but you told the teacher you were there in spirit, you were not one, but dis-integrated.

Do not have as a model people that pride themselves in doing several things at once.  God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  God shows us the Way.  The very first of the first commandment is “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.” (from Mark 12:29)
